It all started with the question, “Would you like to mentor a few leaders as part of a Leadership Capability Program?” I said, “Yes!”, (of course) and so began my own personal journey coaching leaders in their workplace. This has been and continues to be the most rewarding aspect of my professional life to date.
I have been honing my craft as a ‘relationship builder’ for over 30 years and in the last 7 years it has been an honour to coach over 130 people, notching up well over 1200 coaching hours in both the leadership and careers space.
To be able to walk with an individual on their growth and development journey is a tremendous privilege and very humbling. I am absolutely convinced that everyone deserves the opportunity to know who they are and what they are capable of, to know that they are intrinsically valuable and that there is meaning and purpose in everything they do and every relationship they have.
And if I can play even a small part in releasing that value into the world and particularly the world of work, I will be satisfied. Imagine what amazing leaders we would grow if they could see not only their own unique value, but that of their team members and colleagues?!
I am excited to be able to offer my coaching services and programs to leaders who are not satisfied with the status quo. Leaders who want to explore their potential and activate their brilliance. Leaders who want to be gamechangers in their workplaces and communities.
Effective leadership starts with self-awareness. In my opinion, self-awareness and personal leadership form the foundation of everything we do as leaders, in all aspects of our lives.
In the coaching relationship confidentiality is critical and is fundamental to building a relationship of trust and respect. I value openness and honesty and will not hold back if I believe something needs to be said to remove a blockage and enable forward movement. As an accountability partner in the coaching relationship I expect my clients to do what they say they will do, and I will do the same. Being true to your word is an important leadership trait.
Apart from a lifetime of being curious and asking the ‘why?’ questions, I have learned much about life and leadership in my roles as wife, mother, friend, employee, business owner, neighbour, community leader, coach, consultant, researcher…you get the drift.
